The IC-M25 EVO in black carries the same specification as the Marine Blue version, with a different colour only. The handheld VHF has a 5W output and 700mW audio. IPX7 rated to 1 metre for 30 minutes, the 'Float'n Flash' activates the moment it hits the water: the radio stays on the surface, the rear LED blinks red, and an audible alarm sounds. AquaQuake vibrates water clear of the speaker before you're back on air. At 228g it barely registers clipped to a lifejacket. USB-C charges in around three hours. Drop it to Eco Mode at 2.5W, and you'll get approximately 14 hours, plenty for a full day on the water without touching the power cable. Large buttons, clear layout. Cold, wet hands are not a problem. The LCD is readable in bright sunlight. 5W RF output (2.5W in Eco Mode) 700mW audio output IPX7 waterproof (1 metre for 30 minutes) Float'n Flash: buoyant, flashing red LED, audible alarm AquaQuake water-draining speaker USB Type-C, approx 3 hours to full charge Up to 14 hours in Eco Mode 228g Also available in Marine Blue In the box: radio, USB-C lead, hand strap. Small enough for a lifejacket pocket, loud enough to hear over a Force 5, and it floats. The IC-M25 EVO is a handheld VHF that can be either a backup for your main set, sole radio for coastal passages or for use on a tender or RIB.The buttons are large and well laid out. You can operate it with cold, wet hands without hunting for the right key. Audio output is 700mW — clear enough in the wind. If the radio takes a dip, Float'n Flash kicks in: it stays on the surface, the LED blinks red through the rear panel, and an alarm sounds. AquaQuake then vibrates the speaker cone to clear any water before you're back on air. At 228g it barely registers on the belt or clipped to a PFD. Charging is USB-C and takes around three hours. In Eco Mode — which drops output to 2.5W — you get approximately 14 hours of operation. For most day sailing that's well beyond what a single charge needs to cover. Full 5W output is there when you need range.
