Le Tonkinois Classic Varnish

Gelomat is a liquid matting agent for reducing the high gloss of Le Tonkinois varnish. It is only mixed with the final coat of Le Tonkinois in the following proportions:Mix 1 part Gelomat to 2 parts varnish for a matt finishMix 1 part Gelomat to 3 parts varnish for a satin finishProportions can be varied to suit you preference

Le Tonkinois Marine No.1 natural oil based yacht varnish is derived from the traditional Le Tonkinois Classic formula that has been tried, tested and trusted for centuries. If you want the highest gloss and best all-round performance then choose Le Tonkinois No.1 over Classic. Choose Classic if you want to build up the finish quicker. Brilliant penetration, even on oily timbers establishes a permanent bond. No brush marks. The tough non porous weatherproof coating is highly resistant to all the elements including U.V. and sea water.Free of harmful and irritating ingredients, it is perfect for all indoor applications, yet outstrips other competitors for all outside purposes. Ecologically friendly, no petroleum solvents. Will go on top of nearly all existing products except wax, although on bare wood it embellishes all natural features and colour. It is particularly good for boats, garden furniture etc. Remaining flexible, once on it will not crack, chip or peel off. Its natural brilliant gloss can be matted as required.Ingredients, pure resin modified through high temperature curing, Linseed oil, Tung oil, vegetable driers and thinners. Does not contain petroleum based solvents.Coverage, approximately 20 square metres per litre per coat.Drying time, dust dry 2 hours, hard 8 hours, recoat after 24 hours or longer, no maximum time between coats.Application, brush, cloth, roller or spray. Thinners, thinning not necessary for brush application of all coats. Brush cleaner,  White spirit. Number of coats 2 or 3 for indoors, 4 for outdoors, 5 for boats (minimum). Lightly sandpaper the surface between coats. More coats will give longer lasting protection. Finish, bright glossy, add Gelomat to last coat for matt or satin finish. Odour, low, no respiratory irritants. Safe to use anywhere. Fire retard M2 classified. (not easily flammable). Storage life Unopened excellent. Opened several years if stored in container with no air.Special Features:No brush marks, they disappear within 30 minutes of application. Ideal for interior or exterior woodwork. Excellent waterproofing. High resistance to temperature changes and weather conditions, including sea water environment. Good resistance to U.V. abrasion and knocks. Excellent covering power, easy to apply, brush marks flow out. High resistance to acids, alkalis, caustic soda, gasses etc. Withstands boiling water, hot plates and cups.
