The IC-M25 EVO in black carries the same specifications as the Marine Blue version, with a different colour only.
The handheld VHF has a 5W output and 700mW audio. IPX7 rated to 1 metre for 30 minutes, the 'Float'n Flash' activates the moment it hits the water: the radio stays on the surface, the rear LED blinks red, and an audible alarm sounds.
AquaQuake vibrates water clear of the speaker before you're back on air. At 228g it barely registers clipped to a lifejacket. USB-C charges in around three hours. Drop it to Eco Mode at 2.5W, and you'll get approximately 14 hours, plenty for a full day on the water without touching the power cable. Large buttons, clear layout. Cold, wet hands are not a problem. The LCD is readable in bright sunlight.

Does the IC-M25 EVO float?
Yes — and it makes itself found. Float'n Flash keeps it on the surface, blinks the rear LED red and sounds an alarm, and AquaQuake then vibrates the water off the speaker so you can transmit as soon as it's back in your hand.
How long does the battery last?
Around 14 hours in Eco Mode, which drops output to 2.5W — ample for a full day on the water. At the full 5W it's shorter, but a radio spends most of its day receiving, which barely draws. Charging is USB-C, around three hours from flat, so it tops up from the same cables and power banks as everything else aboard.
Is this a full replacement for a fixed VHF?
Depends on the boat. VHF range is set by antenna height, so a fixed set with a masthead antenna will always carry further than any handheld at deck level. For a tender, RIB or day boat the M25 EVO works well as the sole radio; on a cruising boat it's the ideal backup or cockpit second radio alongside a fixed set.
What's the difference between the Metallic Black and Marine Blue versions?
Colour only — the specification is identical. The black looks sharper on a modern console; the blue is arguably easier to spot if it goes in the water. Either way the radio floats and flashes to be found.
